In 3D printing, seams are visible lines on the model’s surface caused by the printer’s nozzle switching the starting point of each layer. These seams can detract from the model’s appearance and structural integrity. To effectively minimize seams, consider the following strategies:
1. Seam Settings
- Choose “Back” to position seams on the model’s backside, “Random” to distribute seams unpredictably, or “Nearest” to place seams closest to the previous point, reducing their visibility.
2. Retraction & Print Temperature
- Adjust retraction distance and speed appropriately, and optimize the print temperature to prevent material oozing, which helps minimize seam appearance.
3. Vase Mode
- Enable Vase Mode to print single-wall models with a continuous spiral path, effectively eliminating seams and creating a smooth surface.
